I had been on the lookout for a Combo 850 for about five years before I finally stumbled upon this one- it's in terrific condition, with every last screw intact. It has a single coil horseshoe pickup near the bridge and a short-pole toaster pickup at the neck. The body is the same shape as the 325s of the era, but solid with a carved top. There is very little routing- just enough for the horseshoe pickup and controls. The wires leading to the neck pickup actually run outside of the guitar, just beneath the raised pickguard. The input jack is recessed over an inch deep into the body. This particular 850 is mentioned in the Richard Smith Rickenbacker book in the 'Dating Rickenbacker Guitars' section.
